Tanja Grunert Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Michael Alan’s new solo exhibition, The Rise of Artistic Tradition.
The drawings that will be exhibited represent Alan’s view of his works as a “continent of language”, through which he communicates the traditions and labor of the past with the lines and loops of his unique contemporary style. Using this language, Alan creates a continuous dialogue through his works, which conclude only when his hand leaves the pen so his head can rest on his pillow. Then waking with a stern belief in the human touch in art making, Alan pushes energy forward in hopes to give birth to a continues wide language in Art.
To promote his view of living art, Michael Alan began Drawathon/Living Art 13 years ago, providing artists, thinkers, and creators a platform to gather, discuss, and build an environment in which shared inspiration and experience gives birth to a constant flow of raw creativity. A workshop of this project will be offered to the public during the last weekend of the exhibition on Saturday August 8, 2015. You can purchase tickets for The Living Installation here. This will be a 7 hour, live happening, paint, bodies, guts, and pens!
