Announced Jerome China “From The Scrap Bin” @ Port-O Lounge curated by John Fathom.  Friday December 4th 6:15 – 9pm. Featuring works made entirely from scrap and reclaimed metal.

The series Pieces of Things explores what can happen when you find discarded items from different sources that all had a different and sometimes unrelated use, combining them together to create some unexpected – giving them a new meaning, beginning and now this new thing has an origin of its own.

These seemly unrelated objects now have a connection and relationship with each other. Each piece and its placement influences whether consciously or unconsciously the placement of the other pieces – this makes the thing what it is. Adding or subtracting one or several of the pieces changes the composition and the make-up of what it is and what it might have become.

All the pieces of things in our lives shape who we are and how we perceive things in the world – they don’t necessarily define who we are, if so only for a fleeting moment in time. As we encounter other pieces of things they will continue to shape who we are, how we view the world and how we interact within that world – because we are always evolving or should be.
