Announced Art of Casey Diebold @ Halycon Coffee. Artist Reception February 3rd 5:30 – 8:30pm.
From Casey Diebold About the Artwork:
Classic pulp illustration, 50’s / 60’s car design and culture, and crime noir are my biggest inspirations. I’ve been working through an over-arching theme of rebel romance, always looking for a key moment of visual narration from a compelling scene. At times fun and dangerous, and other times dark comedy. The mysteries, thrills, impulses of a budding love affair. The fears of pushing the boundary, taking risks to survive, of cutting loose from the path you were given, and diving headfirst into a lifestyle with no maps, no guidebooks, no elders to call upon for advice, of having a dream and no choice but to make it work.
About the Artist:
Casey Diebold was born in 1980 and raised in Chicago, IL, Austin and Dallas, TX. He grew up in a family of inspiring artists: his father a professional advertising photographer, his mother a sculptor and painter. Diebold received a BFA in Illustration from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 2007. His work is a hybrid of pulp-illustration and crime noir depicting fictional rebel-romance stories set around the mid 20th-century. Diebold’s artistic influences include Hitchcock, garage rock, and the full Chevy line-up between 1956 and 1964. He has been pushing paints into galleries across the US since 2008. He currently lives and works in Austin, TX.
Hanging January 18th through February 28th.
